So I have been researching what types of graphs or charts best represent SEM data for clients from bar charts to graphs to multi-axis charts to pie charts, etc. I wanted to see if anyone had input on what has seemed to work for you or what you recommend in terms of visually getting communicating to your client. Also can conversions and conversion rate be expressed with the same chart?

I think there are some JupiterMedia presentations that talk about search metrics. You may find it useful & get some ideas.
Personally, one of the graphs I use is a simple regression analysis. I show a trend line.
This only works for 1 keyword at a time - or select keywords cause the graph would be too big & complex. But it's one graph that I like & is easy to create on excel.
This kind of graph is easy to see and really easy to demonstrate, quickly, the effects of your SEO efforts. Clients should be able to quickly see progression in rankings.
