I cant seem to find any info for beginners here.
I am new to all this and after reading I feel like I am getting way to much information and not quite sure how to process it.
My website is done and here I sit can anyone tell me where does one start in all this?
I have a limited budget and I am hoping the phrase "it takes money to make money" does not necessairly apply to getting my site out there.
Where can I start?
Thank you so much for any information.

Thank you so much.
I finally found some direct and useful information. Its obvious that we need a marketing company to market this for us I have emailed 3 companies with no response from them yet. Could it be that we are a company just starting out and we are not a big corporation? Also, is there any harm in my submitting to directories and leaving the search engines to someone who knows what they are doing? Or are directory submissions just as complicated?
Time is an issue and we are anxious to get up and running.
Thank you again for you advise.

If you are going to hire a pro then I would say let the expert do it. There is a high percentage of worthless directories out there. And some that could hurt you by the way they link to you.

I'm guessing that John is talking about click-counting redirect links that use meta-refresh redirects and/or 302s. They can mess you up quite a bit. I've had enough bad experiences with them that I won't go near them.

Precisely. I was referring to 302, and other, redirected links. I have seen newbies commit virtual suicide by listing themselves in certain directories and trading links with sites that do their links that way.
