I mean will the spider read only the top of the page until it sees the Google Ad and then stop? Right now I have a state specific entry point page that leads to 50 other states pages with various information on each states' attractions, sports teams and etc. For some reason Google is only indexing that one entry point page. I had inserted some Google ads in between the first text paragraph and the rest of the content along with where the links to the other states lie near the bottom. That entry point page itself seems to be ranking pretty high but nothing else is. I'm pretty new at SEO so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Once a spider starts grabbing a page, sloppy code or sheer weight of code can stop it from finishing the page - but the ads, by themselves, will not stop the spider from continuing down the page. You can check if your page is in the index, if so I bet the cache will show the whole page and verify that it did not miss anything. If this is a new site, it is normal for the spider to get only one page even after multiple visits before it goes deeper. If the site is mature >6 months or so there may be some other problem.

I don’t know what you have for incoming links but you must at least one pointing at this entry page. Maybe you could get some more links pointing at some other important pages.

The site itself is about 6 years old. I think it could be sloppy code that could be killing the spider...i check all the other major search engines and only MSN has the default page indexed along with one MA page. very strange indeed...

From what I understand, Google Ads are in iFrames, and Google will not index anything within iFrames.
