PR 6 = How many Links?

I currently have a PR5 on my site mainly because of my internal linking structure I believe because I just did not have that many links at all when my first PR came out. That is unless there is another determining factor.

Now I have many more links and have been adding links regularly.

My question is this: Is there a set number or maybe a minimum number of inbound links that ones site must have to be eligible for a PR6.

I have heard that going from a PR4 to a PR5 is much easier than going from a PR5 to a PR6 and going from a PR5 to a PR6 is difficult but much easier than going from a PR6 to a PR7. That the difficulty grows exponentionally.
A PR4 is five times harder to get than a PR3, a PR5 is ten times harder to get than a PR4 and a PR6 is Hundred times harder to get than a PR5 and on up the scale.

Anyway does anyone have any ides of the set number of inbound links to reach a 6 if there is one and if that is the only determining factor?

No. The threshold keeps moving up, but one PR8 link might do it.

The fact of the matter is the more pages you add to your site the more real PR (and hence toolbar PR) is voted away from your home page. <snip>

I have read in Bob Wakfer's article on take 18 average strength PRx to get a entry level PRx.

Is there a way to find say sites in ones own niche that have a certain PR? Like if I was looking for all the fishing sites with PR6's?

Besides just searching the web site by site?

My question is this: Is there a set number or maybe a minimum number of inbound links that ones site must have to be eligible for a PR6.It depends on the PR of the *page* or *pages* linking to the homepage, if it's the site homepage being referred to looking for the PR6, and the number of outbound links on the pages linking to the page. There is no adequate formula (at least not that would be publicly posted by anyone for general commercial consumption.) It may be possible that just one from a very high PR8 page could do it if there were a tiny number of outbounds on the page. And it would also depend on whether the target page is a low PR5 or a high PR5 - some PR5's can be mighty close to a PR6 to begin with, so it would take less, of course.

Keep in mind that there can be pages that are low PR8 or medium or high PR8 - as with all those rounded off numbers. It's on a log scale, not rounded off integer figures like the TBPR, which were always a rough (though convenient) estimate, at best.

I currently have a PR5 on my site OK, you have PR5 on your homepage. How about your internal pages, one click and two clicks away from the homepage? What PR are they?

There is no ready formula which can answer about " PR6 =how many links"

Important guiding factor is the nature and PR of the pages you are linmking with.

Besides just searching the web site by site?There are tools out there for doing PR related research.

It even has a PR Boost calculator. It calculates how many PRx sites you need to get links from to boost your own site to PRx-1. You can reverse engineer the success of other sites or you can search by a keyword like "fishing", and then see all the top rated related sites.

This kind of question is rather like asking how long it will take to get from where you are now to some other place, without knowing the route you will choose, and whether you are walking, driving or flying.

It is simply not possible to say with any degree of accuracy that so and so many links from such and such a TPR site will boost your TPR from a TPR4 to a TRP5 because:

1. There is a considerable range in true PR values within any of the TPR ranges. All other things being equal it will take fewer links from a high TPR 5 site than from a low TPR5 site.

2. The amount of PR passed is dependant on the total number of outgoing links on the page. A link from TPR8 page with only one outgoing link might be enough to boost your page to a TPR7, but a link from a TPR8 page with 100 outgoing links will not have the same effect at all.

3. We don't know exactly how Google displays PR on the toolbar.

The future PR tool is just a gimmick - no one knows what PR a site will have after the next update unless they can determine the details of every new incoming link that is added in the next update.

The PR Prowler boost calculator is just an estimate. It does take into account the number of outgoing links off the page.
