At what frequency does Google update backlink and PR?

I'm managing a link campaign for a client and have acquired a substantial number of PR5 non reciprocal backlinks for them. But the backlink update as well as the PR update at Google level seems to take an eternity.

Thanks
Riley

Seems to be taking about 6 weeks between updates in backlinks and pr these days.

Thanks Rusty. I'll try to be patient :)

I think you're right, rustybrick, for the information displayed by the Google Toolbar.

However the "sandbox" effect on backlinks involvement in the Google search algorithm is, IMHO, of the order of 2 to 3 months.

strategicrankings: My Page Rank Update History shows the last PR update as June 22/2004. There was a Aug 10th directory PR update and 4 or 5 backlink updates since June 22.

The thing is what shows in the toolbar and what actually exists for a site can be different... though the ability to sede the backlinks is taking 4-6 weeks as I have experienced for our sites and new additions.

In total agreement, we can take that to the bank! It makes absolutely no difference what they show as backlinks for sites, or what PR they show with the toolbar for fairly recent pages. What they know and use for scoring internally has nothing to do with what we're being allowed to see.

I used to be every month but for some reason they have not been doing monthly updates since June 22/2004.

Toolbar PR may be a true reflection of what it was the last time the TPR was updated, but there is no indication that it's reflecting what they're using internally for scoring at the present time.

The real PR is updated after ever backlink update (we have had 4 or 5 since the last toolbar display PR update) so on July 16th when we had the first backlink update after the last toolbar update the real PR would have been updated. At that point what was on the toolbar no longer reflected the current real PR.

What I readly was responding to and disagreeing with was your statement "What they know and use for scoring internally has nothing to do with what we're being allowed to see." The toolbar displayed PR IS a reflection of the real PR, or at least has been before Jun 22/2004 when Google was in the pratice of updateing the toolbar displayed PR after they updated the backlinks. I think to say that the internal PR "has nothing to do with what we're being allowed to see" is an incorrect statement, unless I am misunderstanding you.
