I am thinking about setting up a parody site of a major fortune 500 US corporation using the software at reamweaver.com.
I already have the domain name and hosting setup. I did cloak the whois info.
Does anyone have any experience or information on setting up a parody site or any comments on the software?
Besides getting my arse sued off, are there any risks anyone can think of?
I have never done anything quite like this before, but this group of megalomaniacs needs to be smacked down a peg or two, IMO.
Any comments will be appreciated.

I guess just make sure you have the e-mails required by law (like webmaster or postmaster etc etc) and then they can't claim they tried to contact you to take it down but couldn't....
and if it's funny and not (very) vicious then I think they won't win a court case unless they ask you nice to stop first and you refuse.
I think you have to decide in advance are you going the huge publicity short lifespan or the keep it quiet slip under the radar route?
good luck :)

Thanks Gurtie, :)
Thanks for reminding me on email, I had forgotten about that.
I am going for the long term huge publicity. ;)
Did you take a look at that software? It is very interesting, it scrapes pages and then serves up the page to your visitors with selected text and images of your choice replaced.

:D looks like fun to play with....I've always just ripped a site and amended it (not that I make a huge habit of parody sites but sometimes it has to be done ;) ) - being able to auto update like that would be cool but perhaps little inflexible.... although I guess you can change links to point to your own hardcoded pages as well if you need to add new sections or something.
Well if they make a fuss you know you've hit a nerve. Send me the url when it's up?

I think usually they will not want to mention it for fear of giving exposure / media coverage to their faults.
they probably will not care much until you outrank them for their own name :)

They probably will not care much until you outrank them for their own name It is going to be ridiculously easy to do. :D
I should have the site up in a few days, I’ll PM you the URL.
The hard coded pages are taking longer than I like, but paying customers come first and graphic design is not my strong suit. I am also trying not to cross over into vindictive or nasty and just stay amusing while exposing their hypocrisy, greed, megalomania and warped set of ethics, a difficult thing to do I am finding. ;)
