You may need to clarify the question abit more. People use the term traffic with regards to people who visit your site, if some oen said that the site traffic was exceptionally high last month, it means that they had a lot of visitors to their site!

Whats the point if you have a site and no one else gets to see it besides yourself (unless it is a personal and private site).

Since you posted in the Link Building forum, would you care to relate your thoughts to linking please?

I really hope that you are kidding, especially using that description under your name...

Moved this to "Conversion, ROI Improvement & Tracking".

I don't think traffic is important to everyone. I have a site in which I sell advertising and directory inclusion so, yes, traffic is important there simply so you can present good numbers to your existing and would-be advertisers.

However with our SEM site and web development site, I only care about conversions. Of course the more traffic you get, the better oppourtunity you have to convert but all the same, the traffic is not important but rather that the traffic that does come converts into a customer.

It is not so much traffic that is important; instead it is relevant traffic that is important to a site owner. The more relevant traffic a site receives the more revenue the company will pull in. Relevant traffic will help increase ROI, branding….. and much more.

True you want relevant traffic but if you get people that have half an interest in what you are doing then it falls on the content to take them to the next step.

Traffic and content are the two major factors. You need them both though the latter is easier to generate than the former.

True, traffic that is half relevant is great and content will help take those visitors to the next step. Content will also help increase your traffic because you will see that your site will be getting ranked for more and more niche terms. Without great content, you will not be maximizing conversion rates.
