juliodesalvo: I put up a link for your site and it should get crawled and get the site pages into the index with in 2 or 3 days. What you seem to be lacking is links. You site appears to be crawled by Google but Yahoo! and Search MSN don't know about it.

The page that I gave you a link on gets crawled by both the Googlebot and Inktomi Slurp daily.

Do you have a stats program installed on your site. You many want to install swstats. http://awstats.sourceforge.net/

Send me a personal message and let me know how its all going.

Nice one Bob.

Julio how long has the site been online? and have you submitted to any directories (the frees one to start would help).

juliodesalvo: Drop over to the Link Building 101 (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=2616) and start working on adding the free directory links. Also check out 56 Directories (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=2769) and that will give you a start.

Thanks so much for the fast response and advices... I will start submitting to the links you've gave me.

By the way, is there any chance that my site is not properly crwled because the main index.html is a frameset. Following some advices in this forum I've added the <noframes> tag , is that enough?

Thanks so much again....

juliodesalvo: Also check and see what you have for stats program on your hosting account. We need to see what kind of activity you are getting with the Googlebot and the Yahoo! Inktomi Slurp bot.

I suggest you get SWStats and have them install it if your hosting is on *nix. If you are on M$ and IIS you will need some thing else. What is good for IIS people?

The frames are a huge influence on what is getting spidered. You need to see if there is any way of redesigning the site out of frames. It will give you a dramatic change in results.
And the design you have would be very easy to convert. The header and nav bar would be cached the first time it loads so the rest would be quick as that is where the text is.
Convert the page into a table or a group of tables and alignment will be the same as what you have now also.
Many programs have the ability to convert frames to tables and if you do not have one handy try a Google search.

The other method would be to use an I-Frame for the main section but again then you lose the keyword text

I've seen another case where there was a problem with not being indexed and ranked and though it wasn't verified, it may have had something to do with the rightmost unique token in the domain name being the same as another site.

In this case - mind you, not saying this is so in this case - there is another long-established site with the same designation and decent Page Rank

Marcia: I would be looking at the issue of no links to start with. They need to get into all the good free sites and then spend about $500 for the pay for directories and then make sure there is not an issue with the frames that AussieWebmaster brought up.

I'm planning to remove frames and use php includes for the menues instead. Is that a good choice or the search engines prefer .html pages.

Thanks, Julio

juliodesalvo: The extention is not going to make a difference. Of course if you use apache you can use html and have apache parse it for php code.

Some more directories for you: http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php

Thanks so much... I've remove the frames fron my site and added all this meta tags to get indexed, however google still cannot get the descripcion of my site. Yahoo even didn't noticed it yet. My competitor www.asociacionayuda.org is ·9 in the rank. What's the problem?

Hola Julio y bienvenido a SearchEngineWatch Forums!

1) The first thing that you want to ask yourself is, are you worried about getting indexed in Google.com, Google.com.ar, or any search engines? If just Google.com, then read on. If focused on Google.com.ar then pay attention to #7.

2) If your focus is Google, then meta tags are not going to get you very far.

3) You must improve your internal linking using good practices of anchor text.

4) Build themes within you site, for example:
Estres

Salud
Ambientales
Emocionales
etc..

Then by using breadcrumbs and inbound linking you will create a bigger section about "Estres" in the eyes of the search engines, rather than just one page.

5) Where is your site map? Build a footer that includes basic links (About Hemera, Contact Us, etc.) including your site map.

6) Bobmutch is right, focus on external inbound linking making your links as much as possible to inlcude your keywords in anchor text rather than "Hemera". Linking will get your site indexed and refreshed in the index more often. This is really the best medicine for the search engines still today.

7) If you want higher rankings within Google.com.ar or other .ar search engines, then work double hard in getting links from .ar domains. This will help search engines identify the country where you are an authority and therefore rank higher.

8) Link out to information that is relevant to your users. Don't let search spiders get trapped in your website. Outbound links are sometimes just as important as inbound links.

9) Say your prayers and practice the virtue of patience.

10) Report back and let us know ;)

Buena suerte!

Hola, Julio. Bienvenido a SEW Forums. Espero te sientas como en tu casa.

I visited your site and index page source code. In addition to Nacho’s good advise and previous excellent posts, you may want to check the following;

1. Check the use of the W3C xml:lang attribute for Spanish content as discussed at this

http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=333&page=1&pp=20 thread in post #12.

(Note. this example is for XHTML 1.1 but you can adjust first line for HTML 4
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//ES" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="es">
<head>
<title>......</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta name="keywords" xml:lang="es" content="..." />
<meta name="description" content="..." />

etc…

Pay also special attention to post #15 as why the xml:lang attribute is important. Once you define this attribute, follow through as “Estres” with/without the accent are interpreted as different terms.

2. Try to place the title tag before the meta tags and use less meta tags (only the important one).

3. Try to take advantage of the HTML DOM structure (e.g. proper use of header elements without breaking the h1-h6 sequence, etc). The W3C provides more information on the proper use of the HTML DOM.

4. You are using nested tables, this could create keyword weight fights, as the way users see tables is not the way search engines see them.

5. Directory and paths naming convention: Replace underscores with hyphens

6. You may need an on-topic analysis to identify the correct data structure that would go with your Spanish keywords and top N semantic competitors in the intended target search engine.

7. Since most users don't care about punctuation when querying, I would stay away from keywords that require special punctuation or characters. This will also help just in case an engine does not follow the W3C conventions.

There are other things, I’m sure other fine members could add to the mix. Personally, I like to stay away from table-based design, but this is my own choice.

I hope this help, amigo.

Julio,

I had a quick look at Google's index (using site:yourdomain.com) and Google appears to be aware of the pages but hasn't crawled them yet - so I think what you're seeing is the difference between the initial 'fresh' crawl and the later 'deep' crawl when all things should improve.

However, you would be better to link your 'El centro' to http:/www.hemera.com.ar/ instead of http:/www.hemera.com.ar/index.php which would help a little.

Also, don't forget to use the page titles on those internal pages because that alone with make an important difference to your site's performance.

Your navigation system is a little slow to load and I'd feel more comfortable using pure HREF text links in the navigation - for search engine reasons - and that would also load a bit faster.

I checked and Google is indexing the links in your navigation - thanks to the alt tags you have there - but I sleep better when a navigation system is more 'pure' with HREFs.

Hope that helps...

Hi Julio, just a quick note. I see a discrepancy between your site content and the banners shown from "bannerlandia". This is more about customer trust, when clicking on some of the banners displayed in your home page I reached a naked girl in two clicks. The same happened with gambling. I recommend you switch to other ad sources, such as google adsense, to maintain/gain your visitors trust.

Thanks, jorge... what banner exchange do you suggest besides google adsense, because I don't want to make money with showing banners what I want is to get more traffic to my site.

I have search the string +"www.hemera.com.ar" in google to see what pages are indexed and the only one is /quienes_somos.php, but not the others... should i have to change something?

thanks, in advance.

Julio,

Try doing 'site:www.yourdomain.com' not '+www.yourdomain.com' - I think you'll find that you do have a few pages indexed and Google lists links of other pages (with no cache) showing that it is aware of the pages and will most probably index them soon.

Cheers, Andy

If you are interested in Yahoo inclusion go to Yahoo.com and search: site:www.hemera.com.ar (you have 20 pages included)

For MSN also: site:www.hemera.com.ar (you have 10 pages there)

Julio,

Things look to be moving somewhat on your site as I can't replicate Jorge's result and only get 5 pages of which only 4 are actually indexed.

Watch out when you're doing that index check that you don't take the top number - if there's only a link to page it means Google knows it exists - but hasn't crawled/cached the page yet. So the current result I'm getting is 5 -but one is just the peripheral link.

I noticed you don't have a prominent site map - it would be a good idea to add that.

Your pages are also showing up as 'supplemental' results - so a couple of quick things to think about -

Do you have different domains pointing at your site? If so, either 'park' them or change them to 301 re-directs - this is explained elsewhere in the forum.:)

Julio,

Back up to 27 this morning! Phew! It looks like you were crawled on Weds and re-indexed during the last 24 hours or so. But they're still there!
