Good Day All!

Quick question.

I have been reading more and more about 302 and 301 redirects. My client has many websites and I am beginning to think I might need to employ some of these strategies to ensure no duplicate content etc..

My question is from an SEO standpoint what is the difference between a 301 and 302.

I am under the impression a 302 is seen as a temporary redirect whereis a 301 is more of a perminanent thing. Are either ok to use if client has multiple sites with very similar or the same content?

Thanks

Google asks that you use a 301 redirect.

If you've sites with the same content then you've duplicate content - which the search engines dislike. Imagine if they served 10 results which actually turned out to be 10 duplicate pages but with different URLs? Users would flee the search engine.

If your lead URL is www.example.com then you should ensure that www.example.net and www.example.org 301 redirect to www.example.com.

A 302 redirect does not have the same effect; it still leaves the URLs duking it out.
