Your site is indexed (http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.exoticindiacrafts.com)

What it isnt doing is ranking. You have no links registering in Google. And your site is so new...you have hardly any inbound links. You wont show up in rankings just like that with... 14 registered inbound links. You need more.

Plus your site...the code could be a problem. Also..what keywords are you trying to optimize for? And you have broken links.

Check out more of the posts in the forums and try to glean more information.

You should look at your log files and find out which crawlers have visited your site. Then find out which pages of your site to find out how deep they are going. This should tell you a bigger picture.

Please let us know if we can further help. :)

You are using graphics where you should have H1 header tags. At the very least your site should be ranking for "Exotic India Crafts" but you have made the expression very unimportant in your text (even reducing the font size in one place).

If you really want to pursue all those keyword phrases, you need to spread them out over multiple pages.

And it doesn't look like you're getting links from much more than reciprocal link and ad sites. Google doesn't appear to be treating those sites favorably.

If you can find a few more sites like my-india.net, that might get you to surface for at least "Exotic India Crafts", but that would be iffy.

Adjusting your on-page content to emphasize the importance of at least that keyword expression will do you the most good at this point.

Hypertext-Matching Analysis: Google's search engine also analyzes page content. However, instead of simply scanning for page-based text (which can be manipulated by site publishers through meta-tags), Google's technology analyzes the full content of a page and factors in fonts, subdivisions and the precise location of each word. Google also analyzes the content of neighboring web pages to ensure the results returned are the most relevant to a user's query.

Remember that Google is reporting over 8,000,000,000 sites in its index. None of them are going to start out with much link popularity (assume 1 divided by 8,000,000,000) and even the most popular pages will have only a small value for their link popularity.

An EXACT FIND for "Exotic India Crafts" is returning mostly (if not entirely) pages with links to your site on it:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=%2B%22exotic+india+crafts%22

And there are only 15 results.

Just putting in the H1 header tag should get you to the top for that one term. The rest of your targeted expressions will depend on how you optimize for them and how much competition for them there is.

Generally speaking, if fewer than 20,000 sites come up for a keyword search, you can usually get to the top by just using a tightly focused title tag and H1 header tags. You may have to repeat the keyphrase in your body text a couple of times.

Hi,

Thanx for the info,
Could you please tell me what is wrong with the code of my website & could you please explain me when U said 'no links registering in Google.'

All these inbound links which I have added in my http://www.exoticindiacrafts.com/links.html are there in Google.

If I need more links, from where can I get quality Inbound Links for my Handicraft site.
Plus my site has few pages in html rest all of them are in asp ( dynamic), I hope that is not a problem as per Google is concerned.

Please guide me through this, it would be really be helpful.

Thanx
-Ben

What it isnt doing is ranking. You have no links registering in Google. And your site is so new...you have hardly any inbound links. You wont show up in rankings just like that with... 14 registered inbound links. You need more. New sites are having a hard time ranking at Google - and besides, what you want to do is rank for the *best* keywords for the site, so that's where you need to start - with keyword research - and build out your content focusing on those words and phrases and develop rich content based around as many related keywords as legitimately suit the site.

I've been familiar with your market niche for a while, though primarily with American made handcrafts - in fact, it's in that field that I first got started with websites. What you want to do is develop inbound links that are relevant for your site, and there are a lot of opportunities in that field. Plus, very importantly, work on the site itself to develop keyword rich, relevant, indexable content that is search engine friendly.

For anchor text for your relevant inbound links - vary it somewhat so it's natural. Aside from links that will be for the site name, which is all some will do, and links to interior pages as is appropriate, what you want are links with handmade crafts as your core keyword, with handmade crafts from India and whatever other variations you can think of as anchor text.

The Overture keyword tool is the basic starting point I use for keyword research (the price is right, it's free), and though it's not 100% accurate, you can get a very good idea of the relative importance of different keyword phrases. That's where to start, and then use meaningful, accurate text including the appropriate words for individual pages in page text, page titles, meta tags, H1, H2, and H3 tags, and in the internal navigation on your site.

Don't get discouraged - it takes a while for a new site. Work on quality inbound links and directory listings, study up on conservative basic optimization, give it time with Google and try to start out aiming for some good Yahoo listings and have patience with Google. Yahoo is faster to get good rankings for, and basic on-page optimization works very well with just a minimum of relevant links to the site.

You don't need more links. Right now, your inbound links are ranking above your own site.

Get your H1 header tags into place and your site should start showing for at least "Exotic India Crafts". For other keyword phrase, you'll have to use other pages. Getting more links to those pages will help.

Hi Ben,

Just two suggestions:

-Do not forget to optimized your images
-Do not use to many "meta" keywords.

I visited your Web site and it looks very good in SEO terms.
Now, check in Yahoo constantly and with Google....patience.

;)

Hi Michael,

Thanx for the info, but if you check my site
www.exoticindiacrafts.com

I have placed the text in Header Tags at many places. Still after waiting for weeks only my index page is there in Google.

Your problem is that you are using Javascript to embed text in the page. Google will not crawl the Javascript to find the text.

You need to fix the H1 header tags. Just put the text between the tags. If you are altering the appearance of your headers, use an off-page CSS file to handle that.

Your 19 page (17 is showing) indexed in google.

http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.exoticindiacrafts .com

and yes, not in top 100 (189.) with : exotic india crafts
19. page!

normally, this is impossible.

You make something wrong I thing...

for example (and example only. Not a complete list):
keyword and descriptions META tags huge. (penalizeable)
H1 tags very very long. (penalizeable)
Bunch of non relative words. (penalizeable)
Imagemaps is bad idea...

And much more...

Friendly Advice:
Don't modify your site yourself is You dont know what you make.
ask for professional help... ;)

After two long months Google finally started to index one of my new sites (phew), MSN and Yahoo were happy munching away at the site but good old G was just checking my home page....everyday but nothing else!!

What I had done though, for a month before the site officially launched I put a home page up with a few keywords and Company / site name, etc. This Google and Yahoo happily found. Once the new site came online, Google indexed the first page quite happily but Yahoo took a little longer. MSN was the first of the three to get his (her) teeth into the site, Yahoo did about two weeks ago (two weeks after site had gone live) and Google only yesterday!! Just over 1 month of the full site becoming available...so my advice...be patient..it happens....eventually ;)
