We hope so. I'm sure many of us here have been waiting so long for such flexibility.

Congrats Yahoo!

I like that they have a decent quota for web result queries. 5000 a day per IP is useful. Think Google might follow suit?

Does anyone know for sure if using ads (any ads, banners, text links, adsense, etc.) is OK to use on a page that uses Yahoo's API web results? I sent them an email asking about this, but I don't want to hold my breath for an answer.
I did find a site that was listed in their applications directory that uses web results and has Adsense as well as Amazon affiliate links. So I'd guess it's OK:
http://developer.yahoo.net/wiki/index.cgi?ApplicationList
Look at the last example - Flixville

Their Terms page seems to indicate otherwise though:
http://developer.yahoo.net/terms/addlterms.html
Item no. 2 on that page says "...may not be used in any way for commercial purposes including, but not limited to, selling products or services (or to market or advertise such products or services), ..."

If I hear back from them I'll be sure to post it.

This is truely a good step from Yahoo!

I wonder how do the smaller Metasearch engines pull results from Google, Yahoo and MSN without API and without following the speficied limits, as they must be getting way too much than 1-5000 queries per day.

It sure is illegal to voilate their terms, but I'm just curious to know how they do it.

www.GoogleRankings.com may well submit a standard search to Google then parse and analyse the pages that are returned with some serverside application they have written.
