Google Page Rank

Hi quick question which I'm sure will get a thrifty response.

When assessing a suitable site from which to ask for a link I have been trying to focus on liks from sites with as high a Google page rank as possible (higher than 5). It just struck me though. Should the actual page that I am requesting a link from have a high page rank or should it be the web site's overall rank that is important. Obviously some sites have a high rank but the particular links page might have a much lower rank (as would be expected).

So is it site rank or page rank?

Simon, PR is by the page, not the site.

But other factors can come into consideration. Check the overall quality of the site, what types of sites they link to, whether the particular page has been robots excluded, whether it has direct, unscripted links and if it's linked to from decent PR pages on the site. Sometimes pages that are new are too "young" to show toolbar PR, so it has to estimated whether they may in future.
