When I check my log this morning, I was really surprised by what I found on the Yahoo proximity ratio!

See, what I've been taking notice of, actually, is how good Yahoo has gotten at putting phrases together to come up for searches without the words being together in close proximity. I've gotten traffic for phrases that were right on target for pages, with the words scattered around, maybe even two words toward the top and one at the bottom for a three word phrase.
I've admired that (noticed it with MSN also, incidentally). It makes it much easier to simply write nice, natural-sounding page text that flows without excessively beiing concerned with SEO'ing pages. Natural sounding text flows more smoothly, and makes for better marketing copy and a better user experience.

I've been noticing more phrases in my referrals, too.
This is definitely a major plus for planning new content.

Michael, I fully agree. It opens the door for us having a field day with content development. Semantic diversity - they all seem to be heading in that direction to some degree, that's how this appears to me. And it gives a freedom of expression to just turn loose the creativity and enjoy writing for pages.
