View Full Version : I have written a little tool for getting volume for multiple keywords from Overture

I have just built a little tool that I built out of my own necessity. When I am developing a keyphrase/keyword list for a client, I reach a point where I have my list pretty much settled. However, I find it very bothersome to have to go and submit each keyword individually to the Overture Keyword Selector Tool for each individual phrase. This tool is great for when you have reached the point that the only thing you need is the Overture monthly volumes for each phrase. You get back a list that has each phrase with its corresponding volume, one per line, which is exactly the way I need it for pasting into Excel. I thought I would make it available to anyone who would like to use it. I would love feedback and comments from anyone who has any ideas for how to improve it. Also please let me know if you find any bugs.

Thank you to those who have given me feedback.
I have fixed a couple of issues and made a few changes.
The output is now in a two column table, which should make it
easier to copy and paste into Excel - with the keywords in the
left column and the query volume in the right column. That's how I need it, if you have any suggestions for other formatting options, please let me know.
One thing that's really coming out of this is that the tool
needs to be thought of as something that's used once you have
finalized your key word list. Also, since Overture does not give
results for plural forms, you really have to make sure all your
words/phrases are singular, or you won't get any results using
my tool.
There was a suggestion to make different versions for different Overture country networks. I will look into that, esp. since I think that's something I will get use of too!
Also, I have put it on its own domain:

John, now all it needs is a good name! OverHarvest, OverCount, whatever, but something that we can call it would be great.
