New submission service includes this directory listing. Also includes 10 urls for inclusion, but the form and Passport registration makes it punishing to submit a site.

You also have to register a new account for every unique domain. Arrggghh.

it is totally a good deal for many sites because you can list many internal pages with a submission.
also the price goes down as you add more sites
1 = 50
3 = 100
10 = 300

Where's the Regional subcategory? Do a search for "real estate agency" and you end up in a category with more than 1750 sites (http://sbd.bcentral.com/917.aspx) listed. There's zero value in being in a category with that many listings.
Hmmm. Then this other real estate agencies (http://sbd.bcentral.com/294.aspx) category only has 53 sites listed.
Who put this directory together? :)

as far as topical usefulness I think the directory might be a bit skechy, but as for getting links (especially to inner pages) at a reasonable rate I think it is ok.
I do not think that directory was created or designed to be useful, but more to give microsoft another potential tie in with small businesses. i think the directory is likely good at the goal I just made up...
