The Company:
Insider Pages is a search engine that allows users to quickly find great local merchants and service providers. It’s built on the concept that the best way to find a local business – a doctor, contractor, hairstylist, restaurant, etc. – is to ask a friend. The company has completed its first generation product which is available on line at www.insiderpages.com.
Insider Pages was founded in 2003 and is located in Pasadena, California. The company is wholly owned and funded by Idealab, whose mission is to turn innovative ideas into successful technology businesses.
Position Purpose:
The product manager will have a critical role in building a multi-million dollar local search business. The initial focus will be on developing the advertising systems, from advertiser sign-up to ad provisioning, yield management, reporting and billing. Pay per lead advertising is core to the Insider Pages business model and all related systems and products need to be state of the art.
You will own and drive the product development process from concept and product vision through development, launch and managing in market. This is a remarkable opportunity that offers considerable responsibility at an early-stage high growth company.
As part of a growing team and industry, the person in this role will have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership and grow quickly. We are looking for someone with superstar potential.
Key Position Accountabilities
We're looking for a background filled with demonstrated success in high-responsibility, high-accountability environments.
Accountabilities include:
·Building a process for gathering and validating customer requirements
·Conducting industry analyses to understand best practices and potential partnership opportunities
·Writing requirements, product specifications, use cases, and developing wireframes
·Working closely with the engineering and design teams to refine product specs and set development priorities
·Managing product schedule and milestones
·Cross-group interfacing with sales, business development, marketing etc.
·Contributing to business strategy
·Specifying market requirements for current and future products by
conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
Requirements:
·5+ years experience in product management / product development an Internet/software company
·Experience developing, launching and marketing Internet products and technologies
·Demonstrated experience in gathering design requirements into a product vision
·Demonstrated ability to work with engineering and design teams to rapidly produce prototypes and iterations
·Solid organizational skills, with excellent written and oral communication skills
·Bachelor’s degree
Preferred but not required:
·Experience user interfaces, usability and design
·Entrepreneurial experience and familiarity with business issues
·Software development skills
·Experience with online ad systems
