Some company keeps calling us (different person each time) saying they're from "SEO Comparison". They're pitching a comparison report of SEO firms and charge $175 or something like that for a report comparing SEO services. Each time I tell them we're a SEO Firm with more business than we can handle, and not interested. They keep calling.

Now that I've asked them to take me off their list and they've called again I can do what I need to do. But I'm curious if anyone else is getting bothered by these folks?

Perhaps you are not getting the subtle hint that if you don't pay, the comparision will be less than favorable... ;)

That's how I'd read that, anyway. Could be wrong, but it sure smells bad.

No doubt. I just looked at their web site and noticed this:

"We expect that some SEO firms will do as much as an extra million dollars in added sales in the next year, based on high rankings in our independent third-party comparison reports. (Think of the impact of "Consumer Reports" has on the sales of products they compare.)"

Pure slime.

Maybe they're "geo-telemarketing". I'm getting calls as well. ;)

Did they tell you which phrases they compare for you? If I remember right, the sales guy said something about 15 or 18 competitive SEO phrases, chosen by them.

I'm in more of a niche and don't really optimize for phrases such as "SEO", "Search Engine Marketing", etc... So basically, they want me to pay them money to tell me I would compare low to companies who do.

Hopefully they stop calling you. I think their number comes up on my caller ID, so next time I can just push the friendly 'decline' button.

I think you're right because I remember seeing something on Chris' blog about them now that I think about it. Maybe Ed can do one of his "spam buster" articles about them.

IMO any one who contacts you by phone or e-mail should be viewed as a spammer if you did not initially contact them. I got another e-mail today in regard to SEO with an opt out link. I never opted in why should I have to opt out. I hang up or don't return phone calls, and delete e-mail. :)
