Why is my web site not at the top of the list?

In Yahoo, when I type my company's domain name in the search bar, my company's ranking if 4th, not 1st.

Is there something in general I am doing wrong that the site is not at the top. I am currently optimizing the site for search engine rankings.

Any help is appreciated. :(

you probably need to get more inbound links with your company name in the text (this is easy to do by registering your site with directories) and also make sure your name is in the page title and in an H1 on the page and maybe sprinkled a few other times throughout the text

Brereton, give us a little more information about your site to go on. Any backlinks going to it? Is it a brand new site, or has it been around awhile? Is it showing up in the other search engines? What else is showing up in the top search results for your domain in Yahoo Search?
