"good content" generally means that you are providing relevant information to searchers. One way to find out what is relevant would be to research keywords by using tools such as Overture or Google keyword recommendation tools. Let's say keyword "A" is searched most often. Then I would include "A" at your homepage about three times, once near the beginning, once near the middle (text link to further sub page is good here) and once at the end of the content. That text link then leads to further content relevant to that keyword search, found on a "2nd level" page. The 2nd level page can then lead to third level and deeper level pages such as specific weight loss products or services.

Hint Hint... One great method of providing 3rd or fourth level content is through the use of testimonials or reviews... ;)

That is a very high level look at your question, but I'm sure others will take it further than that.

good luck! weight loss is a popular/competitive industry for Internet marketing.

Hi Sanjoyroy,

Do you already read the post about "Guidelines to create Landing Pages (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?threadid=3327)"?

I hope this could help you in copywriting activities.

Best Regards,

Ultimately, acquiring recent research data allows 'fresh undocumented material' to be a solid foundation of dialogue.

Hiring a professional copywriter can turn these in works of art and targetted specifically to your audience.

see what the community needs and frequently discusses:
I also think the idea of reading lots of books and articles and information about your topic and related topics is important. if you participate in communities with active feedback loops you will likely see the recurring questions and misunderstandings and it will also help guide you to what is important.

in the end you may want to capture mind share. when people think of topic X they instantly think of my site.

gather up to date information and news:
also I am a big fan of rss newsreaders like bloglines and the like. some people also track news topics such as "google" or somethign in a newsreader

write from your voice:
quality content has no proven single formula, you need to define your audience and goals and learn what they want. also you might have some unique experiences or style that add value to things you create.

build personal brand:
another concept that is often missed with the standard definitions of "quality content" is that typically most people are not generally going to find it just based on writing for the keywords, you also need to try to build a reputation and make friends in your industry if you want to do well on the longterm.

some people like Jakob Nielson can do well with just about anything they write just because they have already established such a strong personal brand. without a reputation the content is a bit harder to push

there are lots of ways to establish personal brand too... articles (which you may publish on other sites), interviews, forums, blogs, conferences, eating contests, etc.

link to related sites:
also do not be affraid to link off to related useful resources. sometimes you may even altert people in your field of your existance by referencing their blog in a blog post on your site and pinging their blog.

focus on a topic:
another thing that many people miss who work really hard building "quality content" is that some tend to do too much on too broad of a topic.

doing really well in a niche field is usually infinately more valuable than being an also ran in a crowded marketplace. I consider my first few sites to be failures, but my newest site is pretty focused most of the time and I think it does pretty well.

Not any writer can write such content, but many organizations choose to do exactly what you advocate, via an SEO firm...
