This happens to me numerous times. Sites with not so rich [even average-poor] content orders links from PR4 pages.

What is your suggestion here? Not accepting such projects? Or what?

Thanks in advance.

Add content development as part of the SEO project.

What is your suggestion here? Not accepting such projects? Or what? You mean only take on clients that don't need any SEOing? Surely the whole job of any SEO business is to take 'average' sites and at the very least make them better?

No, I don't mean that. If I am SEOing a site then I have the scope of touching the content. But when someone is paying me for links only and rigid that they don't need more content / reluctant that they have enough content the problem arises.

Webmasters links back when they are getting link back fron a high PR page.
Webmasters link back to new sites with no / '0' pr with good content.
Webmasters do not link back to sites with poor content and 0 PR. If my client belongs to the 3rd and I need the project?

Advise them on 'what needs to be done'... and if they say "nah we only wants links" - walk away.

It's not worth taking a dime to do an inferior job - when the client limits you to that... and then later on has the potential to blame you because the strategy was inferior [they can't blame themselves right?]... and then they get it out in public 'forums' and play the 'I got scammed by this company'...

...and you knew this in advance -- but took the money anyway.

It really sucks playing it that way but to protect them you need to protect yourself first.

I've been there [and bet many others have as well] where hindsight shows 'the client is always right' way of doing things is often the worse thing you can do.
