For a short time today I sat around with about 25-30 people wearing black hats.
They seemed a little disturbed that a guy like me wasn't wearing a hat.
I told them the truth, but perhaps I should give some background:
I just came home from attending my first SES Conference.
It was incredible!
Met some fantastic people. Yes, even Mr. Sullivan himself at Chicago/Justin's outstanding party last night. (Thank you so much Justin!)
I only went for two days because I was still burned out from WMW's Vegas conference. (Note to self: never arrive 3 days early for a 3 day conference.)
I feel bad that I left early, but that was the plan: Try out SES and see what it was all about. It was well worth the trip.
I was lucky enough to share a room with a new found friend at the Hyatt and the club "Blues" was a blast. (One more note to self: Never argue with a Grammy nominated blues guitar player about what the difference is between Blues and Funk. My apologies to Michael Coleman!) I also still feel bad about giving the taxi driver some hassle because his windshield wipers were in such bad shape.
Oh yes, the black hats?
Got on the wrong train to the airport. Sitting on the train I remarked as such to those on the train, who were all wearing black hats. I got a lot a crap from them that I wasn't wearing a (black) hat. It appears that in Chicago you need to wear a hat when its cold outside.
But hey....I'm from North Dakota.
