Since May 1 2004 my wife, Ruth Ann, has been lurking on many SEO boards.
This is what she told me that she has learned to date:

Definitions of some basic terms:

1. NEWBIE: EVERYONE except for maybe 4 or 5 people (you know who you are)
2. SEO: Sick Ego-driven Obsession
3. SEM: Sick Ego-driven Manipulation by SEO's (see #2)
4. FORUM: A gathering place for sickos (see #2 & #3) to put each other down.
5. SPAM: A marketing tool used by everyone but the 4 or 5 people mentioned
in #1.
6. WEBSITE: A place to sell Viagra
7. WEBMASTER: See #1
8. PR: A game similar to hide n seek
9. ADWORDS/ADSENSE: A method employed by the Gods to get people to play PR (see #8).
10. SERPS: The winners of PR (see #8)
