MEO

You, too, can get results with MEO!

MEO – Membership Enhanced Optimisation, is also known as: Forum Reputation Optimisation (FRO), Messageboard Reputation Promotion (MRP), Community Standing Marketing (CSM), and sometimes even just plain Bulletinboard Standing (BS).

What is MEO? Simply put, it is the ability to get listed on the first page of forum memberlists, where some form of reputation system is used to list memberships. And if you can get listed on the front page of the memberlist, you could have your name up in front of hundreds of thousands of visitors!

Follow these MEO tips and tricks, and you’ll find how you too, can get MEO’ed to the top of memberlist pages, and get your name in front of potentially hundreds of thousands of people!

CONTENT IS KING

To get good MEO results, the first place to start is good content. Forums like good quality content, and the more quality content you can put into a forum, then the better your MEO results will come in. The faster you do it, the faster you’ll get on the first page!

Avoid using duplicate content, and try to create posts more than 2 characters long, with a good Adverb Density for effective and evocative posting. And then you’ll have top rankings before you know it!

LINKS ARE KING

Linking to interesting resources is another great way to get ranked first with MEO! Some people think that outbound links may hurt your MemberRankTM – but this just isn’t true! Forums and messageboards will reward you for linking to useful and interesting content – helping you get on the first page for rankings!

Avoid linking to “bad neighbourhood”, or if your links are seen as unhelpful, not useful, or just plain junk, your membership could be penalised. Also, try to avoid FFA pages, as it will be very hard to notice and give credit to your links when surrounded by so much noise. Just follow my advice on good linking to get to the top!

CLOAKING

Cloaking involves the use of producing content to different users, based on their forum standing. For example, for a normal poster, you might want your posts to look like they are offering quality content and outbound links. However, when you think you can detect an admin or board moderator reading your posts, you could quickly edit them to produce “staff friendly” messages, such as “I’ll buy you a pint”, “I like your hair”, or “Your skills and general being as a person are woefully underated by too many people, who fail to appreciate you as the beautiful intellectual giant I see you as”. Alterantively, you can add “moderator bait”, such as “Psst! Fantasy a slimline Playstation 2?”.

Ultimately, though, you could find your username penalised or banned for bad use of cloaking, so only use this carefully.

However, if you follow my secret tips, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a top ranking MEO!

If you want the exact information on how the professionals use it, then buy my book for $299, entitled:

MEO – The secrets of how to get first page rankings on forums with reputation systems!

If you buy that, I’ll give you a free phpbb script to test your MEO on – and if after reading my industry standard book, you can’t get listed on the first page, then I’ll give you your money back!

Great tutorial Brian, but I think you forgot one or two.

“I like your hair”
"I like your beard" can also work well, although you have to be careful who you say that to.

Then, there's starting thought provoking-discussions that capture people's fancy and inspire them to new heights. One of the all time most popular I've ever seen like that was entitled "My feet stink." I believe that discussion even topped the rankings at Google for the phrase.

Nice! We've got all we need to enhance everything else we've got, so now we've even got enhancing our reps covered.
