Toolbar PR Penalties Do They Drop You To PR0 Or Can You Be Dropped 1 or 2 Units Only?

I would like some feedback from those that are in the know on toolbar PR penalties and have seen of examples where sites have received penalties on pages and had their toolbar PR dropped in between toolbar PR updates.

Is the penalty always a drop to PR0 or can you be dropped from a PR6 to a PR4 by a penalty.

We really need to get Toolbar PR out of our heads, it's practically valueless and only reflects what Google is allowing to be displayed at any given time. It is not anything that can be relied upon for any degree of accuracy at any time.

We might as well consider TBPR to be deprecated and get our minds on more productive things. TBPR is beating a dead horse - it's no more accurate in between current infrequent PR updates than at other times.

If we mean can the toolbar reflect PR which is a partial lessening rather than a full PR0 penalty, yes in the past when the TBPR had some value there were penalties rolled back where instead of being restored to their full previous PR, sites that had received a PR0 penalty went up to a PR3 on the homepage.

That was not in between toolbar updates, even back then when there were monthly updates which no longer exist.

Marcia: Yes I have seen/hear of partial rollbacks of a toolbar penalty at toolbar update PR time. But I am more wondering about a penalty where the toolbar PR is dropped say from a PR6 to a PR4 in between toolbar PR updates.

powerofeyes: Well some people have held that you don't get partial toolbar PR drops in penalties. They claim that its drops to PR0 or nothing. I disagreed with that but I would have to say that I have never seen a partial toolbar PR drop that was a penalty although others I have talked with have.

What this shows us is that a partial toolbar PR drop in between toolbar updates can be a penality. Or that a penality can bring you a partial toolbar PR drop. Its an important thing to know.
