The Yahoo results flux all the time. Today I've been watching the site: search count flux (on one site between 19 and 25 results, another between 124 and 189 and the last between 301 and 520).

I should watch Yahoo more closely, it occurs to me this is the first time I've sat down to watch this. I thought of the YahooDance at once... quickly searched the forums here, found nothing.

Is this a known feature of Yahoo? Or something new for today?

It is just a normal event with yahoo, They had been testing different algorithms everyday, This was an information given by yahoo in webmasterworld search conference, You can also view the powerpoint slides in yahoo blog which mention this,

Also yahoo slurp is very active crawling the web, So sometimes their index changes real time,

Yesterday I saw some major movements in yahoo, A lot of backlink anchor text data kicked into the index, This gave a boost to lot of sites we monitor, A small update is going on from what I can see, but it doesnt look too significant though,

Yeah. Thanks.

I was perking up because algo shifts shouldn't/don't normally effect the number of pages returned for a clean site search.

I've seen SERPs change over the course of the day too just not back and forth over the space of a few minutes.
