With my site, I have a 3 misspelled URLs of my main URL that employ a 301 that redirects to the correctly spelled version of my URL. My site is about 6 months old. I'm doing horrible in both Yahoo and Google. With Google, I'm guessing it's because I'm sandboxed but in Yahoo I'm ranking in the 600's for my main keywords. I even started the site match program hoping that would do something for me but it did absolutely nothing except lighten my bank account. Could the redirects be a problem?

I dont see the problem with 301 redirects everyone does that, Do you have a lot of inbound links, Yahoo loves them too, Get a lot of quality inbound links, See how your ranking improves,

Did you check and compare yahoo backlink data with your competitors?,
Do you have quality links from sites which are crawled regularly by Slurp?
Inbound links are never sufficient keep getting them and keep adding quality contents to your site,
If have done the basics above threshold level you just have to wait out till yahoo ranks,

Really, for Yahoo it's got a lot to do with on-page optimization basics, it isn't the same as Google and as long as there are a few links, ranking isn't as heavily dependent on linking strategies.
Between Yahoo and MSN a site can get a very generous amount of traffic, so take the time to work on on-page factors.

My site is SEO'd out. Alot of keywords in the titles and body. Each page is set up for a specific keyword/s. It really seams illogical that I rank so bad in Yahoo. With Google I just chalk it up to being sandboxed but Yahoo doesn't have anything like that. I heard Yahoo has a problem with 301s and that's the only thing I can think of.
Does it normally take longer than 5 months to rank well is Yahoo?

For us it works the other way marcia, Lots of links make the difference with yahoo these days, Yahoo has started to rely on backlink anchor text to support the ranking algorithm,
You can do your own tests to see how it works,
iamrussell if you have done the onpage basics and got lots of quality inbound links all you can do is wait,
Yes it might take a long time to rank in yahoo,

>>done the onpage basics
It's also a matter of which keywords and how competitive. Russell, you're targeting single keywords and competing against one with 8 million and another with 15 million. So page 6 isn't half bad for starters considering your particular target.
Try going for some quality two and three word phrases rather than the single keywords to start out with. That should give you marked improvement.

What I've already got has stayed stable as is, but timing is perfect to do some fresh testing with a couple of brand new sites with no links yet at all.
