This forum - based on the popularity of the other Relatively new, similar SEO forums -like Seochat, Digitalpoint,Highrankings - will get a pagerank of between 6 and 8 in several months to a year.

So analyzing the results on Google's SERPs for it's FIRST month will give an indication of:

;) The delay and lag-time for PageRank Updates

;) The delay and lag-time for Backwards Links Credit

;) The importance of Text-backwards Hyperlinks in Google's SERPs algorithms

Analyze the frequent updates of the Webquotes and the "site's that contain the term" search alternatives
Many of those will become acknowledged as LINKS by Google's standards
it is interesting to compare the lag time and after the next update - just how many measurable attributes are udated and when....

Also, realistically - this site NOW has an INVISIBLE pagerank of 3 or 4 (just using common sense) - BUT that WON'T BE RECOGNIZED BY Google until the nest complete update...which will also trigger many new SERPs results for both old and new posts of their topic's keywords ...

So if detailed diary and logs are kept - it willl reveal much about Google SERPs / Relevancy Algorithms , their Reverse Engineering, their PageRank system, and their Lag Time

I bet it ends up a PageRank 7 (at the worst and most likely an 8) within two months.

you can't test the lag time for pagerank. there is essentially no lag time for sites that are getting powerful inbound links.

also since the forums are titled searchenginewatch forums and also link off to many of the other major forums any sort of testing would be skewed by that.

you can't determine much of any search engines relevancy algorithms by collecting data on a site with as many unknowns as this forum has. also since SEW is so popular the link profile of this forum will not match that for most normal newly arriving websites.

Google has just begun it's PAGERANK DANCE UPDATE

forums.searchenginewatch - debuts at a PageRank 3 in only a few weeks after its intoduction

this is relatively uncommon - because most sites debut at a PageRank 2

Congratulations

This indicates something interesting about the links that Google acknowleges
and the lag time

it seems unlikely that there is only ONE pagerank 4+ backwards link at this time

Equally as interesting is the DEBUT ar # 840 or 829 (depending on the DataCenter) for the term
search engine optimization

Results 831 - 840 of about 3,350,000 for Search Engine Optimization. (0.73 seconds)

It may be eventually end in the top 20 for that term as the pagerank moves up to its ultimate level

You may approach Google's algorithms, but not reveal. This is because Google changes their algorithms and you have no way of knowing what effects are caused by what. *Not* saying that you can come pretty close to understanding...

the backlinks shown have nothing to do with "what Google is using to define relevancy in their algorithm"

well as an example, we opened our forum (http://forums.instantposition.com/) (before I was here) on April 20. As of SES San Jose we had Zero rank transfer from the home page...we now have a 6. pretty good I think...but it took 90+ days.

the visual update may have taken 90 days, but generally some of the effect takes more or less time. I have had sites that ranked at the top for mild terms in less than a week and the backlinks took a while to show, but their effect on the rankings was quickly noticable.
