Hi

My visits on branded keywords have gone down last month for paid but the branded keyword visits has gone up for non-paid.

I was advertising "brand X" on exact and broad match terms (no negatives) which is why I am a bit puzzled.

From what I understand the difference might be to do with the visits from paid are from searches done on specific keywords. Whereas non-paid search visits are from search queries, Search queries are broader, hence more traffic.

I'm trying to get my head around this because for the specific term "brand X" non-paid is showing an increase but on the same specific term "brand X" is showing a big drop!

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks

M

Could it be that your organic rankings for the branded phrase has gone up, thus people are seeing both your paid ad and the non-paid ad and clicking more on the organic listing instead?

You should also compare your search engine rankings to see if they've gone up or down.

your ranking change for organic? has expanded broad match etc pushed down lower and off the top?

Maybe you changed your title tag or description on your organic or paid listing which would cause either stat to rise of fall. Maybe Google are testing different layouts, for example 'expanded site links' which now take up HALF A PAGE and would mean your potential visitors are more likely to click the organic!

Not sure if I'm dead on - just some suggestions... :)
