Articles on the convergence of search, local and mobile (http://searchenginewatch.com/3641492) indicate while various Operating Systems may have been a hurdle in the past but not any more.
Adapting your site to be mobile friendly is important especially if you are looking for local customers.
Tips and questions are welcome.

I am amazed no has jumped in here - no one doing mobile PPC? Click to call is great for local service businesses and not too expensive as not competing with broad matched advertisers

nice post and surprised as you are. I know that Click To Call functionality is a lot more prevalent in the US and UK too probably. not that 'visible' here in Australia.
I have done studies on the Mobile SEO side of things and what is important there - Local listings been a big thing.
Tip - make sure you have a good, well ranking Local Listing (Google Maps, Yahoo Places?)
Also, best to have a .mobi version of your site. specifically set up for Mobile users.

Mobile Optimization is very important nowadays. Since mobile Internet users are increasing rapidly.
Tips:
1) Use the Text version,
2) Use Small images,
3) Use Small Video.

Adapt the quickest and you should reap the most benefits before everyone else saturates it.
That aside, I'm concerned how accurate the GEO targeting is for mobile devices on Adwords.
