I use Business.com, and apart from the annoyance of seeing them buying clicks from the smaller engines I have to say they provide great traffic for business searchers.
Does anyone use any other business specific engines or directories?
Let's start a list.

I like Business.com for the PR benefit. I have not seen too much traffic come from them directly.
Besides this paid PPC and directory site, I always place client sites in the following directories:
ODP
Gimpsy (if their site qualifies)
Go Guides
Joe Ant
Skaffe
Web-Beacon
Web World
WoW

If he continues to promote it the way he has then John Scott's BlueFind directory is also a good buy at $40.
sometimes I use linkopedia too as it is only a one time $10 fee.

BlueFind did great in the last PR update and with the marketing abilities of JS will continue to climb the ranks and offer submitters a good investment and strong link.

It is actually funny when you see the number of directories that have numerous list pages in the SERPs...

The index page of a directory isn’t as important as it used to be anymore. The way to generate traffic to a directory is to get a lot of pages indexed in the search engines. This brings a lot of pages up in the SERPs; some directories have over 100,000 pages indexed. This generates a horrendous amount of keyword variables and some great top ten SERPs.
Some of use who have been in the directory business for a long time have even learned how to get our searches indexed by Google.

Hey you are getting relelvant traffic... it's just that I feel I am under the boards fighting for the ball and then when I lose it, the competitor turns around and sells it to me for a lot more than I could have gotten it for if I had won...

If you guys are up for it I'd like to try and compile a list of all the smaller search engines that offer free listings and maybe one-time fee listings. If a few of you are interested in compiling this list with me let me know.

Yes, there are plenty of lists on the web already.
One directory that I am interested in at the moment is the MSN Small Business Directory. Some nice high PR categories starting to appear ;)

I hope it's not unethical to mention one of our own sites, but it is relevant to the thread. We run http://www.aardvarkbusiness.net (more of a business than a directory), and submissions on it are free ( http://www.aardvarkbusiness.net/addurl ).

Yeah, I think we're keeping things fair-priced.
