I was intrigued by how Google searches compare with Google specialized searches when one seeks for topic-specific content. In FINDALL mode,

1. a search for hacks in Google-Microsoft (http://www.google.com/microsoft) returns 1,620,000 results
2. while a regular search for microsoft hacks in Google returns 1,500,000 results

In Google-Microsoft, one can see sitting in the top 10 an article about a recently reported method for spoofing URL addresses using iframes embedded in links (http://www.linuxsecurity.com/articles/hackscracks_article-10202.html)

However, this article is not in the top 10 when one conducts a regular search in Google. It appears that both ranked documents and total # of results are different in the two set of retrieved documents. If someone knows of any precision/recall study with Google-Microsoft, please let me know.

BTW, the referenced hack is described at the securepoint.com (http://msgs.securepoint.com/cgi-bin/get/bugtraq0411/44.html) site. Microsoft claims this is not a hack (http://ecoustics-cnet.com.com/Microsoft+debates+spoofing+as+security+flaw/2100-1002_3-5435331.html). Good news for link spammers, great.
