Hi
I am currently spending a fair amount of time submitting articles with keyword links back to my site (I do not submit to any sites with nofollow links).
My url is around 8 months old and lacking in links compared to competitors.
I am interested to hear from others how useful an activity they think this is in terms of improving my SERPs results in Google.
Thanks in advance.

I have been writing press releases and occasionally articles for our company for years. While both seem to have some effect on placement in the SERPs (at least temporarily), the press releases seem to have a lot more weight. They also let you insert an unlimited number of dofollow links which can have whatever link text you want, which is great. But it costs $89 per submission, where most article submissions are free.
In that sense, it's more like paid links than not. But it works better in my experience.
Along with article submission, quality directories submission with keywords as anchor text will help with your SERP's

Best,
Thanks Jag. Are the quality directories likely to be 'paid for' directories...my budget's pretty tight?
You can find ton's of free directories when you do a search for it's keywords.
