Hi All,

As some of you know I am working on a book covering SEM for Corporate sites to be published by IBM Press and Prentice Hall later this year. I am fast approaching the time to work on the section related to dynamic sites. I had a chance to get some input from Mikkel in Stockholm and did not have a chance to chat with the other guru's of dynamic at the show. I will have time to update if after Pubcon in Vegas.

It is not a book on dynamic site issues. The current plan is 1 large chapter breaking out the key issues and how to approach them. It will not be a "how to" in any great detail since that would make it a book on dynamic issues.

I just want to pick your collective brains on what you would EXPECT to see in this section.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Bill

Some points :

-What dynamic means
-Why are dynamic pages an issue
-The big no-no : session ids in URLs
-The SE reluctance to index dynamic URLs with too much arguments
-A solution : URL rewriting (on windows and linux servers)
-Another solution : static and SE-friendly copy of the dynamic pages
-The importance of link structure
-Use relevant dynamic <title> !

I would add the issue with duplicate content, many dynamic sites run into that issue. Even forums. :)

HTML content generated thru Transformation of XML/XSL ... should be brought into the discussion about "dynamic sites & SEs".
