View Full Version : negative external link analysis

I need to do an analysis for a client's website. I ask if you know about any tools that will help me do the analysis. The analysis is of negative aspects of external links (links pointing to the client's site, and websites containing those links).

Of course I can easily find the links with Google's backlink search. But once I find the links, how can I tell if they match any of the following negative aspects?

* Links from web spam sites/pages
* Links gotten from known link brokers/sellers
* Excessive repetition of the same anchor text in the links

FYI, the client's site has 500 external links, so it is impractical to do the analysis manually.

TIA!

use something like seoelite to check anchor text and PR of pages linking in - knowing which are bad is hard.... even ones sold the same thing... would need to see if they offer advertising etc. - see if the main domain is grey perhaps

Hey AussieWebmaster, thanks for replying. Can you be more specific about the context of "offer advertising"? And how can one see if the domain is grey?

grab the google tool bar or the seobook toolbar to see what the PR is

advertising - look at the linking site and see if it is selling advertising - would be a clue to selling links

ouch. Do each of those for each of 500 links? Not practical.

I should have been more specific and asked if there was a tool that would give a report in bulk.
