I've been playing with AdWords Display Ads, and getting good results. But I notice something very interesting. My Mouseover Rate is 10X or 20X my CTR.

Bottom line: If AdWords Display Ads supported clickable mouseover actions Google would make a ton more revenue, and advertisers would get way higher CTRs. A win, win.

abbottsys I'm curious about banner/display ads.

For branding it's a no brainer.

But I've been led to believe that banners are the worst form of advertising ROI wise, compared to traditional text ads. I believe surfers block out these ads, like background noise. Unless you have a killer offer (Free! 60% Off, blah blah)

I'm curious since you're using both, what has your experience been?

It largely depends upon your ad and if it is catchy enough then it definitely will get attention.

Seems Google read this as they are now doing Instant Previews in the organic listings (http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/101117-150057) - lol

I have seen display ads do good things for clients, especially the re-targeting type, however I am skeptical to believe, that the click over ads are doing good from an ROI perspective.

Personally I cannot stand those things, and if I click on the ad, it always is by accident.
