I found this question is very interested.
It was asked by my internet friend Tony.
The original question is:

Why came out a Bing.com?
msn --> live --> bing
what is the next?

question:
what any reason for msn to do so?

Thanks,

I think that MSN has found they gain people with each name change... the ones that have used MSN and stay or add the new one and then the people who find the next name as new... each time they change maybe they are grabbing more followers

There are too many things called "live" or "life". That causes consumer confusion. There's "iLife" (old Apple promotion), "mLife" (old AT&T promotion), "iLive" (audio products), "mLive" (real estate), "Live 105" (KITS-FM), and "LIVE" (alternative rock/grunge band which had a hit single in 1994).

They clearly needed a name in a less crowded space.

Stanley Bing, the Fortune columnist, is annoyed. http://stanleybing.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2009/05/28/bing-vs-bing/ "Stanley Bing, FORTUNE Magazine columnist and best-selling author, today expressed “moderate outrage” at the branding of the new search engine to be offered by Microsoft, also to be called Bing."

Ha, Stanley should not be outraged. He should be thankful for the name recognition he is getting. I didnt know who he was until now. Fortune has a terrible subscriber only, ad laden website model anyhow. It's no wonder he has a fight against instead of run with attitude. He may want to contact Microsoft and look at some co-marketing opportunities.

Stanley goes Bing

changing names can be one of their marketing strategies as people tend to attract to something new.
