View Full Version : small image = hidden link?
I'm considering using a linked image for SEO-purposes, and the desire is that the image be inconspicuous, not invisible. I was wondering if anyone had specific experience with this sort of thing and might recommend a minimum size for the image in order for it to be safely above suspicion. Obviously a 1x1 pixel is going to be too small and fail the test. How big does it have to be?

If you are creating your own stats you can do a 1x1 pixel - mention should be in your privacy terms
Thanks for the response, AussieWebmaster. However, I don't quite understand your reply. Neither stats nor privacy terms enter into it. The goal is to use an image as a link anchor, about which I wondered how small I could go before looking deceptive to the spider. Thanks!
A 1x1 pixel falls under Invisible images. These Images cannot be seen by the users and aimed only at search engine spiders. So the intension does in fall under Google guidelines. You need to avoid or will take up the result.
You can have any number of pixels in size were a human naked eye can see those images in a Web page with positive intension

Why are you trying to do this in the first place?
It should be self understood for what it is :)

Need to place a meaningful link in a widget embed code without affecting the overall widget design very much.
