Anyone can tell me the different between google and yahoo?

I just check the position of my site with any keywords on google,but i think it is not enough,you know yahoo also could take us traffic,so i use yahoo to check too,but i found that the same keyword in different search engine has difference position,so i want to know which factor of they calculated.

different engines use different algorithm weighting - grab rank checker the firefox plug in over at seobook and download the results and keep them in a spreadshett to monitor positions - it will search all three engines (Yahoo, Google and MSN) at the same time so it saves a huge amount of time - 3 engines and multiple keywords

This is because, every search engine has its own algorithm to rank websites in SERPs. Also each of them have their own indexing method to index a particular url in the search database.

Apart from your website position in search engine results, if you check the number of link backs of your website (link:www.yourdomain.com (http://www.yourdomain.com)) in all the search engines, it will be different as their indexing methods are different

Yes as Aussie said "Search Engines use different algorithm"

Google are more into calculating website popularity + keyword relevancy with the site theme and Yahoo are more into calculating website popularity + keyword variance in site content :)


As we work more we can understand practical stuff. This can be changed in due period, as algorithms are not permanent. They keep changing

Thanks fr your answers,but i want know something about the position of our site on them,i know high quality backlinks could make your site have a good position on google,but how about yahoo?I have not do a research about yahoo,so could you tell me anything?

Yahoo rank is impacted more by sheer links than google
