I have a website for a Victoria BC Canada Bed and Breakfast. This website ranks in the top 10 for the term "Victoria Bed and Breakfast" on all international Google domains (google.com, google.au, google.co.uk, etc.)
But we are stuck on page 3 on Google.ca.
We have a strong Google Maps presence and I have set the location in Google Webmaster Tools to Canada.
The site is hosted in Seattle, which is very close to here but is in the United States. I've read that this can affect localized search, but then also read that it doesn't matter as long as you do the things that I have done (we like our host.)
Someone mentioned to me that the client is not listed on YellowPages.ca and was willing to bet that this was the single most important issue in why his ranking in .ca is so much lower than .com
Can anyone shed any light on what kind of emphasis Google places on a Yellow Pages listing as far as localized search?
