I have noticed that when I search with a city name near me other companies that are farther away from me show up & I don’t…
I do show up when I search the city I am in, but I’m 5th and the companies that are higher than me are not in my city.

I do my own optimization & pay per click marketing, but I am new to the game.

I have been contacted by seo companies that say they specialize in getting me listed in the local section, so I know there has to be a way to show up.

Can anyone help?

Start with Google's Local Business Center (http://www.google.com/local/add/login?utm_medium=et&utm_source=us-en-et-bizsol-0-noauth-all&utm_campaign=en&hl=en_US&gl=US).

I have already done that for all of my locations…

I’m just wondering why other companies out rank me.

I’m talking about organic unless there is a way to buy my way in….

What web master tools are you talking about

When you created your listing Google Local Business Center, did you include the search term you don't show up for in your listing?

If not, I'd give it a shot! ;)

for example: "Atlanta interactive marketing"
