I have used Google Webmaster tools for a while now, and really like the information it provides. However lately I have found that the link information has gone a little weird.

I found the link data is either very slow to show, or that it doesnt show all the links that exist.

For example, for one of my websites I wrote 18 different posts on 18 different blogs on the internet, and was able to link back to my site in each post. This was done approx 4 months ago and in my webmaster tools to this date, only 3 of those links are showing.

So I would like as many peoples feedback as possible as to if this is normal, or what is going on. I have double checked each blog and have verified that all links are still there.

Thanks.

Get used to Google protecting their secret sauce...
G doesn't really tell you 100% accurately what it's looking at or counting so people can't reverse engineer or take advantage of said "sauce"...
A better snapshot of inbound links would be to use Yahoo...
Good luck =)

Maybe try to use other webmaster tools to verify your links but using Google Webmaster Tools is great

Use http://siteexplorer.yahoo.com for the best view of links. You can be pretty sure that for the most part if Yahoo knows about a link, so does Google. Even within WMT Google does not show all of the links that they know about. You can also look to see if all of the pages that have the links are indexed at Google. If Google has the page indexed then they certainly know about the link. You may also want to look at the source code of the linking pages to make sure the links are normal html links and check for nofollow.
