What are your thoughts on deep link directories. I came across a list of some and submitted to a few, primarily to pick up links to some of my important internal pages. They are for the most part cheap and some have decent PR (4-6)

Does anyone here have an opinion on them as far as if they have seen benefit?

I would look at the directory and pick a couple of listing areas and check the sites to see if the backlinks are listed with google as backlinks

Good idea...thanks. The ones I picked, I picked because some of my top level competitors are listed there too. I will try the backlink checker though

You will want to check a lot of things and keep checking them. This includes number of types of incoming links to the directory, pages indexed, types of sites they're linking to and whether or not they are human edited. I've seen lots of lists, but many of them get outdated very quickly. I've had a lot of success with deep link directories before, but you have to be very selective in terms of which ones you pick.

Any suggestions on good ones? Currently all I have really dont to evaluate them is look at PR and identify if any of my top competitors are there. Havent taken it to that next step of identifying back links and indexed pages.

Best of the Web is the best out there for deep links

I agree with Aussie. Also, SEOCompany.ca has a good list that they're pretty good about keeping up to date. It's not always 100% accurate so I wouldn't take it as gospel, but it's a good starting point to do your research.

I use this list as a starter: seocompany.ca/directory/deep-link-directories.html

That is the list I am been working from...thanks.

Also, I have used BOTW some, but at those rates it has to be done sparingly.

Are you an in-house or in an SEO firm? If you are in a firm, you can negotiate the fees if you are planning to do a lot of submissions. If you are in-house, I recommend doing the lifetime. After a couple of years, you have ended up saving money.

I am just in-house. Is there a age on their site that talks about becoming a lifetime member or something? Does it basically mean you can submit as many URLS as you want?

thanks

Not it doesn't. If you can get the lifetime listing, do that. Once you've been listed for a couple of years, you will basically be saving money.
