I received a strange email today claiming to come from Google Affiliate Network. I was suspicious of it because whenever I receive emails from the Google Affiliate Network, they are always dated and appear as "From: Google Affiliate Network" and the trademark "Google" is always noticeable in the body of the message. In official emails, the email address is identified as affiliatenetwork at and then google's name and then dot com. The suspicious email was not dated and identified itself as "From: affiliatesupport at and then google's name and the dot com" Then the body of the email was an inline message with links but non official looking links. The email looked nothing like what I normally receive from Google. The email was instructing me to remove an ad from my website. I almost complied but became suspicious of the email and compared it against other emails I received from Google. I then decided something wasn't right about this one so I contacted Google about it, I have yet to receive a reply.
I know the moderators of this site do not want urls or links posted so I won't even try to put it in this post. Has anyone else received suspicious looking emails from sites pretending to be Google? This really makes me angry because I suspect it's a phishing campaign designed to steal the password I set up with Connect Commerce under Double Click Performics one year ago.
Advice? Suggestions?
