Hello! Friends I have just retired three months back and do not receive any pension because I was working in a private firm. Now days I am facing certain financial crisis which are really harassing me mentally. Is there any online business which I can do by sitting at home? Please help me.

garage sales and ebay seems to a way to make some money if you develop an eye for value
or a blog with solid info that has ads works as well

Bailey,

The answer you will get from this crowd is a resounding YES!

Of course it's a wide open question but let me see if I can just touch on the basics to get you going in the right direction. Once you've done some more research you can return (and you will) with more questions.

Just like any job that actually pays, you have to work for it to earn it. There is no such thing as ebay riches through some study at home Dr. Ebay program.

Assuming this is all new to you here is what I would suggest.

Your basic model is this:

LEARN
RESEARCH
ACT

Learning:

marketing:
Take the free Google courses at:
Read the appropriate forums at SEW, and WMW.

Web Development:
You need not be a web dev master, you only need a copy of Dreamweaver and the desire to try and create a webpage.
http://www.dreamweaver.com

Analytics:
The ability to track and analyze the data that is being produced by your online business. See: Google Analytics, Urchin, Webtrends and other packages.

Basic Strategy:

Find a niche
Create a website - www.templatemonster.com, Dreamweaver
Generate traffic to your website;
Paid: Pay per click on Google (https://adwords.google.com/select/Login), MSN (https://adcenter.microsoft.com/customer/SignupPreview.aspx)and Yahoo.
"Free": Online PR or Social marketing. Posting articles and participating in online communities to promote your business.
Allow for advertisements on your website.
Read about Google Adsense program, Yahoo Publisher Network, and Commission Junction. (there are many others.)

Revenue:
Google Adsense alone will need at least 500 visitors each day in a desirable vertical to produce any significant revenue for you.
I'll get bashed around for this, but don't expect to make much more than .25 cents per click on average.

Try to sell advertising space or generate leads for a business that is in the Niche you are focused on. You can sell leads to a lead aggregator such as Lead Pile, Lower My Bills for example.

My last bit of advice is to pick a Niche that you have a passion for, no matter how strange or small. The beauty of the Internet is that if there is just one person that has the same interest in every town in America you have a pretty big audience that you can easily connect with.

the real trick is going beyond the adsense income which is a great solid - then add some affiliate stuff from vendors that are in your niche
