I just wanted to thank the members of this forum for the valuable information they provide. I have been utilizing article submission sites for a couple of years to get links, but after reading more from the people in the forum, I realized I was not going about it the best way and have changed my practices.

Over the last few months I have been writing articles specifically for use with these sites and then linking to specific areas of my site. In other cases I have written longer authoritative articles on my site then did shorter version with links to the longer version that were submitted to the article sites.

Well I can say that in some cases I have seen ranking on specifc keywords move from 2nd page listing to bottom-mid first page rankings and even some from bottom of first page to top 5. I have even seen a keyword that I have highly sought after, but have not been able to make headway on go from loww 100s to top 30 in the past month.

So, again, thanks to all for the info. It is much appreciated

That's something we can always point back to on how to do article submissions the right way.

I was not sure article marketing could actually be a successful strategy, especially if you provide the same article to every article directories. Does anyone have a good website where I could find out a bit more about that?

I think CaseyC spelled it out quite nicely: You do not provide the same article to every directory.

well actually philippeog's question is one I have as well. Currently I am submitting the same article to 5 or so submision sites, however the articles I submit are unique just for those sites, meaning they are not also used on my site. Som articles I have been writing exclusively for those article sites and others I have submitted have been shortened versions of a longer article on my site. However, I was wondering if it makes a difference to do unique articles for each article submission site. If so, that could be very time consuming. I can tell you unequivocally that I have improved some of my keyword rankings and have also picked up traffic from the articles that were posted to these sites, so it has been a double bang.

I think Google do not take in consideration links coming from duplicate content. And writing a different article each time is too time-consuming indeed. There should be a way though, to generate different content from multiple sources.
