Hi I need some help regarding where to look for keywords for a site.
The site im SEO'ing, is a gite in france. Now the client wants more customers and more revenue. If I target keywords in google.fr, these may only be relevant to people living in France, and may be different then people say searching google.co.uk, google.com etc, How do I look for popular keywords. .co.uk, .com, or .fr?????

You need to decide where the primary market is that you're targeting. I'd suggest looing at the historical bookings, and where the majority of those come from.
You'll then ideally need a TLD suited to that market .com/.co.uk etc and hosting in the country that you're targeting.

ok so make sure you have a French address to list for company and you will do well... look for something around largest traffic source - if not a location or specific business - some niches are not specifically committed to language....

It's difficult explaining to the client, but it makes sense from a marketing POV to invest in a second site in the market(s) that you're targeting. It doesn't need to be as advanced as the main site, it could even be a few pages that then link back to the booking system on the .fr site.
At the moment we're working with a UK company that sells holidays in Cuba. To make it espacillay complicated their main markets are the UK, Spain and Canada. We have a main .com site with the all singing all dancing booking system, and also mini sites on .co.uk, .es, and .ca. The designs of these are all the same to reinforce the company brand, but the text is rewritten to suit the local market and to avoid any duplicate content filters.
Hopefully all of that makes sense :)

Matt your post makes perfect sense, thank you, mini sites sound like a good idea. They are only a small gite, with three properties, but still worth following.
