Reciprocal links, in general, dont work nearly as well as one-way links. However, finding the one-way links can be a bit more difficult. You should check out the following post by Nacho, which has some great info on linkbuilding:

That is a great post from the past by Nacho.
Link building has changed as Google as changed what and how they see them.
Always remember Random Surfer Theory.... if you do a totally organized all links same text etc. then it will appear to the engines you are spamming them even though you are just working within the guidelines they have set up.
Good content helps, involvement in social media can get you links, article submissions to ezines, viral marketing, directory submissions, recips (though not too many).... it is a never ending process

Yes, find a website that has a high PR, and the same services as well.

Reciprocal links are usually discounted by search engines. While it may drive traffic to your site, they might not be helping your rankings as much as you would think. Definitely spend your time trying to get one way links and creating content that people will want to link to naturally.

Reciprocal links are usually discounted by search engines.
Maybe, maybe not. If so, we have no idea as to what extent.
Keep in mind that for many sites with healthy overall link profiles reciprocal links can and do occur naturally. That reciprocal linking helps define the site's theme and "community." In fact, Ask's ranking algo relies upon the links among community members to spit out its final results.
If all of your backlinks are reciprocated that's most likely not a healthy link profile. If some certain percentage are reciprocal it can show good integration into your community.

I'm sure we've all heard the phrase "5 high quality links are stronger than 100 low-quality links. Just think of it this way: one-way links may be harder to obtain, but in the long-run, the payoff is greater.

I appreciate your insight Jim, but most SEO isn't directed towards success in smaller search engines like Ask. Reciprical links are good to have for variety purposes in your link profile, but I personally wouldn't put a ton of emphasis on them. After all, if they occur naturally, why would you want to work to get them?

I'm not putting a ton of emphasis on them, basically just challenging your statement "Reciprocal links are usually discounted by search engines." Do we actually know that for a cold, hard fact? The reference to Ask was to illustrate that in some cases recips are actually used in the ranking algo.

Reciprocal link from a reputable site with similar niche and high traffic would help you reach your target market IMO - the question is how to convince them to put your link on their site.
Your best opt is to provide useful and unique content and hope that they see value on it and decide to exchange links with you.

You don't need to go out just to find high ranking websites related to the services to your company. Just search the website that has a computer services in Google search engine. That's the best thing you can do.

For me the easiest way to build backlinks are through directories, forums, blogs and socila bookmarking sites. Just select the ones that are dofollow for more SEO value.
