I used to have reasonable rankings. Dropped from #50 down to #200 - #300 virtually overnight, and been there for months (very competative prhase). I have have a blog on a sub-domain which has been up for a couple years and suddenly dissapeared completely for a month, and is barely coming up for its own domwin name.
Let me tell you about my practices. I am NOT (to my knowledge):
* Using hidden text or hidden links.
* cloaking or temporary/javascript redirects.
* sending automated queries to Google.
* irrelevant words / keyword stuffing.
* duplicate content.
* using of "doorway" pages
* buying links
* hiding or attempting to trick search engines or people
* using frames
* linking to bad sites (that I know of)
* getting links from bad sites
I do have links to both sites from some pretty high trust sites. Although things have seemed to improve a bit lately, still seems strange. E.g. I rank #50 for my blog title: practical ecommerce web marketing. On yahoo/msn, I rank #1, and in top 20 for the much more competative phrase: web marketing.
Anything else I should look for?
