I thought that I would give this awhile before inquiring as I recognized the potential for statistical anomalies or something else like budgets that can be flaky for a few days. But has anyone else noticed a severe drop off in revenues since the first of this month?
I see the same advertisers there have been for the last 4 months doing the same ads. I am running more impressions than last month with a higher click-through rate and yet gross revenue is down and average per click is WAY off.
I'm not talking about only a few hundred impressions or only a few pages that would have a potential for a high standard of deviation. Last month, depending upon the days and the log files, I could come within a few dollars prediction of receipts in the morning. Yet exactly on October 1, revenues dropped big time. The abruptness of the drop in correlation to the end of the month seems highly coincidental.
Now granted, I've grown quickly and even somewhat aimed towards good content that would support high bid words. The thing that I question is whether there is some sort of algorithm that cuts you back if you grow quickly or if it's like a commission deal where if you meet certain goals, they up the ante or lower the rate.
<edit> I would also add that it also happens to be at the 6-month mark, which again makes me wonder if there isn't a built in reduction in the percent payout </edit>
Any other experiences here would be helpful. I'm just trying to figure out the rules and if there are scheduled reductions if there are any other similar future events. It makes a difference in some long term planning.
