View Full Version : Australia, South Africa and New Zealand

I'm updating my info on these 3 sunny lands (the UK is sitting under a very heavy, dull grey cloud at the moment :( ).
For PPC:
# Australia - LookSmart/Sensis, Overture and Google.
Yahoo! Australia also covers New Zealand - so does Overture Australia too or is their an IP filter?
# New Zealand - Google, no NZ-specific Overture.
# South Africa - just Google
Are there any country-specific PPC engines worth looking at? Or any other SEs that aren't powered by Google or Yahoo! for PPC or natural results...or rather I know there are, but which ones are worthwhile?
Thanks

Cheers - 624+ engines. 600 scripts bought off eBay!
Anybody got any specific knowledge on quality of traffic for individual engines?

Did you take a look at www.ananzi.co.za ? I'm based in Mauritius and frequently submit my clients sites to this one to get a south african and indian ocean coverage.
Hi KW Monkey. Sorry for the delay in replying to this, I've been away from the forums on vacation/relocation. I've collated a list of important search engines and directories worldwide. You might find it useful: http://www.high-search-engine-ranking.com/List_of_Regional_Search_Engines.htm. It lists Aust & NZ engines and I am always adding to those lists. XtraMSN is a joint venture between NZ Telecom and Microsoft and is a very important SE for New Zealanders, as is Google.co.nz. Results on XtraMSN search come from MSN with a filter preference for NZ based domains.

Thanks - that's very useful.
FYI in the UK section, Freeserve is now called Wanadoo (their French parent rebranded them to match the parent company).
Their actually an ISP, using Thomson's Local, Overture and Yahoo Search (they were an Inktomi partner). But I know separating search engines from ISP-portal sites isn't always easy...

Well if I can add to this old post then I would like to point out the LinkNZ search engine which is based in New Zealand it has also got a web directory where sites added to it are then indexed by it's webspider.
The web directory for it can be found at www.linkoz.co.nz and the search engine is at www.linknz.co.nz
Presently it has an index of just over one hundred million Kiwi &Aussie web pages but during the last few months it has been indexing world wide so it is growing.
Thanks Dave
We're getting a good list growing here. These lists of Australian (http://www.searchenginecollege.com/hub/weblinks.php?cat_id=32) and New Zealand (http://www.searchenginecollege.com/hub/weblinks.php?cat_id=33) engines might also help. Feel free to add others.
